Targeting Bank Customers, 3 Specialist Thieves Of Car Glass Breaking Arrested In Bogor And Sumatra

SEMARANG A gang of thieves with broken car windows was arrested by the Ditreskrimum ranks of the Central Java Police. Three suspects with the initials IPM alias DAVIT (31), S alias Lilik MAN (40) and EI alias IIS. The three residents of Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra. Director of Criminal Investigation at Police Commissioner Johanson Ronald Simamora said each suspect had different roles in action. And the target is bank customers.

"The suspects share roles, some are in charge of choosing and supervising potential victims, some are diverting the attention of parking attendants by chatting with them, and there are executors who break the glass of the victim's car to take goods," said Dirreskrimsus in a written statement, Thursday, March 9.

The disclosure of the case began with the victim's report on behalf of Kuswinto (40), an honorary employee from Brebes who had just taken Rp180 million from the BRI Brebes branch. When arriving at a restaurant in the Randugunting Tegal City area, the victim came down to eat, while the money was stored in a black bag and placed in a sitting beside the wheel.

"That's when the suspects carried out their actions. The IIS suspect on a motorbike rode the suspect Lik Man near the target car, while the suspect Davit approached the parking attendant and played a role in diverting attention," he explained.

Furthermore, the suspect IIS approached right on the left side of the car and immediately hit him using a ring equipped with pointed nails on the glass of the front left car door, and managed to take a bag containing Rp180 million in cash along with a savings book.

"From the victim's report at the Tegal City Police, it was then followed up by deploying a team to investigate this case. As a result, the officers obtained the profiles of the perpetrators and then pursued the perpetrators who were already out of town (Kab. Bogor)," he continued.

Monday, February 27, joint officers from the Tegal City Police and the Central Java Police Resmob arrested the suspect Davit in Bogor. Officers also secured a crime facility in the form of a Honda Vario Nopol F-2575-FAS motorcycle and a pointed nail modified ring.

"Then on Friday (March 3) the joint team in collaboration with the Musi Rawas Police made arrests of the perpetrators Lik Man and Iis in their respective residences in Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra," he said.

From the results of the examination, it was found that the suspects were cross-provincial gangs who carried out similar actions in several places. Among them in Pekanbaru Riau in September 2022, Karanganyar Central Java in February 2023, as well as 3 locations in West Java during the January to February 2023 range. Of the 6 crime scenes, the total proceeds of crime reached more than Rp500 million.

"For the Central Java TKP, we will conduct an investigation, for other crime scenes we will delegate the investigation. So each crime scene will be investigated later," he concluded.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a maximum threat of 7 years in prison.
