Observers Hope AG Detention At LPSK Not Because Of Public Pressure

JAKARTA - Former Commissioner of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) as well as observer of children and education Retno Listyarti hopes that the detention of AG at the Social Welfare Organizing Agency (LPKS) is not due to public pressure reasons.

"I believe the police have other considerations, not because of public pressure," said child observer and education Retno Listyarti, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 9.

On the one hand, Retno said that the detention of AG, who is now a child in conflict or in conflict with the law and is placed in LPKS, is the full authority of the police (investigator).

He said the police would not arbitrarily detain AG. Moreover, in recent times the Bhayangkara institution has received sharp public attention due to major cases that occurred, such as the Ferdy Sambo and Teddy Minahasa Putra cases.

"It's too brave if you say it because of public pressure considering that the National Police since the Sambo case hit the spotlight," he said.

The chairman of the Board of Experts of the Federation of Indonesian Teachers' Unions (FSGI) also believes that AG, who is suspected of being involved in the case of persecution by Mario Dandy Satriyo against D (17), will not eliminate evidence related to the case that happened to him.

Regarding the AG examination which is currently placed in LPKS, Retno is of the view that the child examination process should be carried out at LPKS. The goal is so that the person concerned does not feel depressed and so on.

As is known, the Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda) detained AG in a special room for LPKS children.

"If the consideration of detention is objective and subjective. If it is objective, the penalty is more than five years," said Director of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol. Hengki Haryadi.
