JAKARTA - Vice President Ma’ruf Amin received an audience for the Management of the Nahdlatul Ulama Special Branch (PCINU) Japan in Kyoto, Japan, to discuss at the same time encouraging the development of moderate Islam for Muslims in Sakura Country. He said the most important thing about the meeting was the spirit of how Indonesian Muslims in Japan, which amounted to approximately 100,000 people, could be protected by moderate Islamic understanding. “NU in this case is responsible for providing such moderate Islamic content. Of course, not only NU but also Muhammadiyah and others. But because this gathers are NU cadres, then the Vice President emphasizes how to develop moderate Islam very well, ” he said. Moreover, continued Masduki, NU is already one century old, and in entering its second century, NU strives to go global. “Go globally how NU in Japan must develop and must be developed. Of course not only in Japan but in other areas, but in this context the Vice President is concerned with the Islamic community in Japan, especially NU,” he said. At the meeting, PCINU Japan also hoped to be facilitated regarding efforts to procure mosques by PCINU in various regions in Japan.
