Commission VI Of The House Of Representatives Considers Forming A Panja To Investigate The Pertamina Plumpang Depot Fire

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Muhammad Sarmuji, said that his party was considering the formation of a Working Committee (Panja) to investigate the fire at the Pertamina Plumpang Depot, Koja, North Jakarta, which occurred on Friday, March 3. The possibility of establishing this panja will be decided after Commission VI of the DPR RI held a meeting with Pertamina's Managing Director Nicke Widyawati to SOE Minister Erick Thohir after the recess which ends on March 13. "We will discuss it at the commission's internal meeting on the need for a committee," Sarmuji told reporters, Monday, March 6. If the committee is formed, he continued, Commission VI of the DPR will evaluate all vital objects that are prone to fires, not only in the Plumpang Depot. This is to improve security in oil and gas depots throughout Indonesia so that similar incidents do not happen again in the future. "There are other things that we have to evaluate. Because we hope that the fire incident in the plumpang depot will not happen again," said Sarmuji Meanwhile, Commission VII of the DPR will immediately summon Pertamina to ask for an explanation for the Pertamina Fuel Depot fire, Plumpang, North Jakarta, last Friday, March 3. The summons is planned after the DPR RI recess is completed on March 13, 2023. "Yes (Call Pertamina, ed) immediately after the opening of the trial period," said Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Eddy Soeparno, March 6. Eddy also urged Pertamina to conduct an internal audit regarding the incident of the great fire. "We ask Pertamina to conduct an investigative audit, which includes technical audits, procedural audits, safety audits and audits of depot management management so that we can find out the cause of the fire and to of course prevent similar incidents from happening again," said Eddy.
