KAHMI Encourages HMI Cadres To Support Anies Baswedan To Become Presidential Candidates In 2024

According to KAHMI Presidium, this was seen during the KAHMI National Conference (Munas) in Palu last year.

JAKARTA - Presidium of the Alumni Corps of the Islamic Student Association (KAHMI) Herman Khaeron stated that Anies Rasyid Baswedan deserves to be supported by HMI cadres as a presidential candidate (candidate) in the 2024 election.

"Anies has a great capacity to lead the country, after successfully leading DKI Jakarta," he said in Jakarta, Friday, March 3, as reported by Antara.

According to him, this was seen during the KAHMI National Conference (Munas) in Palu in 2022, where the participants had high hopes for the best HMI cadre, namely Anies Rasyid Baswedan.

In fact, he continued, at that time Anies also received support from the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla.

Herman hopes that the former Governor of DKI can become glue, after the Indonesian people are polarized so much at this time.

"His track record while leading Jakarta shows how he is able to link the community after the election," he said.

He also said that in the HMI/KAHMI organization which was so large, there were pros and cons of the wishes of cadres who wanted Anies Rasyid Baswedan.

"In my opinion, this is an opportunity to prove that there are HMI cadres who can become president, after Mr. Jusuf Kalla was once vice president," he said.

Anies Rayid Baswedan is a presidential candidate promoted by three political parties, namely the NasDem Party, the Democratic Party and PKS.

Previously, Anies Baswedan had submitted five ideas in a discussion facilitated by the Democratic Party, Thursday, March 2.

The five ideas that Anies carries for Indonesia in the future, namely, first, related to democracy, Anise wants the democratic system not to just be accepted for granted, and to maintain democracy is the responsibility of all parties.

Second, related to the economy, Anies wants the economy not only to benefit a handful of parties, but all parties, and does not want pseudo economic growth.

He also wants the economic system to also look and prioritize environmental factors, and does not want economic growth to be in line with environmental damage.

Third, regarding Indonesia's diversity, Anies wants a harmonious society even though there are many differences in identity.

Fourth, regarding collaboration and meritocracy, this presidential candidate will prioritize the spirit of mutual cooperation between the community, the private sector, and the government.

Fifth, related to political elements, Anies wants politics to be based on ideas and track records as well as unity and justice.

Registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled for October 19, 2023 to November 25, 2023.

Based on Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of the nationally valid votes in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. It could also be that the candidate pairs are promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
