The Takari Bridge and Termanu Bridge in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), were cut off after being hit by flooding. As a result, total transportation access is cut off.

"The Takari Bridge that connects the Lelogama-TaMARi Buttocks has been broken, because some of the bridge buildings collapsed due to being hit by flood water from the Buttock River," said Head of the Kupang Regency Disaster Risk Reduction Forum Elfred V S Strange in Kupang, NTT, Friday, March 3, as reported by Antara.

He said the bridge in Takari was damaged by floods at around 06.40 WITA when the Buttock river overflowed, submerging dozens of houses in Takari Village.

He added that during the last two days the Amfoang area had continued to experience heavy rains which caused the Buttock river to overflow, submerging residents' houses in Takari District.

According to him, after the Takari Bridge was damaged, the access to land transportation that connects the Lelogama-TaMARi Buttock area became a complete break.

"The damage has occurred twice after last January and was also damaged in the same location. After the Kupang Regency government made repairs, so that vehicle access to a number of areas in Central Amfoang can be crossed by vehicles," said Elfrid.

According to him, the damage to the bridge in Takari can still be repaired. He also hopes that the Kupang Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Office will immediately repair the bridge so that transportation access returns to normal.

Meanwhile, the Termanu bridge, located in Manubelon, Southwest Amfoang District, which connects a number of areas in Amfoang, also broke down in the bridge building section due to the flood of the Termanu river.

"Especially for the Termanu bridge, public transportation cannot be crossed, because it is heavily damaged. The bridge is in a broken condition," said Elfri.
