Sriwijaya Air Plane Flying At 1,700 Feet, Moving Northwest And Losing Contact Within Seconds

JAKARTA - The Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands. Sriwijaya Air on the Jakarta-Pontianak route lost contact after suddenly moving to the sea.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya explained that the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane took off at 14:36 WIB. One minute later the plane was at an altitude of 1,700 feet and allowed to rise to an altitude of 29,000 feet following instrument standards.

"At 14:40 Sriwijaya did not go to 075 degrees but to the northwest, therefore ATC was asked to report the direction of the plane. Not long after, within seconds, SJY 182 disappeared from the radar, "Budi said, Saturday, January 9.

There are 50 passengers and 12 crew of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft. Of the total passengers, there are 7 children and 3 babies.

The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) stated that there was no emergency signal emitted by the Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) from the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane which crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands.

"We checked on the ELT on the Sriwijaya 182 plane (SJ182, red) because all of the planes were registered at Basarnas ELT. However, (at the time, red) this incident did not transmit (signal, red)," said Deputy Search Operations. and Basarnas Assistance Major General Bambang Suryo Aji during a press conference broadcast on KompasTV, Saturday, January 9.

This raises questions and will be checked.

"This is what we need to check later, why not emit. Usually it will emit," he said.

"When the plane lost contact in our Puskodal above (ELT, red) it will emit a signal. That indicates there was a crash on the plane.
