Still Suctioning Subsidy Budget From DKI Provincial Government, Jakarta LRT Boosts Out Of Tickets

JAKARTA - PT LRT Jakarta is pursuing an increase in revenue outside of tickets or non-fareboxes as a business strategy this year. Given, so far the Jakarta LRT has earned a fairly large ticket subsidy or public service obligation (PSO) from the DKI Provincial Government. Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT LRT Jakarta, Sheila Indira Maharshi, revealed that the non-farebox scheme is one of other sources of income such as subsidies and ticket sales. "This is our concentration as well as how we can maximize it in terms of non-farebox. At the LRT we have one division that is focused on non-farebox revenue, namely through business development programs," Sheila said in a discussion in Jakarta, Tuesday, February 28. There are a number of non-farebox revenue programs that have been run in previous years and will be optimized in 2023. One of them is renting out commercial areas within the Jakarta LRT to retailers. "There are areas at the station and at our head office that are possible to be rented by retailers. So, they (retails) rent locations which then become one of our non-farebox revenues," said Sheila. In addition, the Jakarta LRT also continues its maintenance services for the Soetta Skytrain Airport railway facility owned by PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). Then, the Jakarta LRT plans to optimize the publication assets on the train, at the station, or in the area within the boundary of the subsidiary of PT Jakarta Propertindo. "Now some local brands are starting to look. For example, shooting or promo products launching at the LRT. We have several activations, it turns out that the potential is good. In the future, this will be one of the projections to encourage this non-farebox," he explained. For information, PT LRT Jakarta posted its operating income per year 2022 of IDR 211 billion. This figure is up 57 percent from 2021. Meanwhile, if it is reduced in operating expenses, LRT Jakarta's profit in 2022 is IDR 8 billion and an increase from 2021 which is IDR 3 billion.
