Before He Died, 4 FPI Soldiers Were Ordered To Squat And Lie Down

JAKARTA - The results of the investigation by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) stated that 4 soldiers from the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) were still alive while in the rest area of KM 50 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road.

The commissioner and chairman of the Komnas HAM Investigation Team, Choirul Anam said, from the testimony of the witnesses at the location, 4 members of the FPI who were still alive were then lowered from the car onto the road.

While 2 others are thought to have died in their position, one sitting in the car and one having been lowered to the road. Witnesses at the location also saw gunshot wounds and blood around the shop.

"Then it was seen that the officers were violent towards 4 people who were still alive. (Officer) Ordered to squat down and lie down," Choirul said in an online press conference, Friday, January 8.

Still from the witness, Komnas HAM also said that there had been blood cleansing and notification that this arrest was related to cases of drugs and terrorism.

The officers also took CCTV at one of the stalls and ordered the deletion and inspection of mobile phones belonging to the people there.

Choirul Anam added that evidence, such as two homemade weapons, brown and white handles, a samurai, a sword, sickles and a sharp wooden stick, were also secured by officers.

Meanwhile, regarding the condition of the four people who were still alive, they were put into a car through the rear and side doors without being handcuffed.

"That the four members of the special laskar were then shot dead in the officer's car while on the way from KM 50 and above (to Polda Metro Jaya) with information only from the police officers that there had been an attempt to fight officers who were threatening their own safety so firm action was taken and measurable, "he said.

So from this incident, Komnas HAM later stated that there had been human rights violations against four FPI members. "At KM 50 and above, there were four people who were still alive under the control of state officials who were later found dead so that the incident was a form of human rights violation,"

"The shooting of four people at the same time without any other effort to avoid casualties indicates that there was an act of unlawful killing against the FPI troops," he explained.

For the incident, Komnas HAM recommended that it be continued with a criminal court mechanism. "In order to uphold justice, it should not only be done internally. It must enforce the law in a criminal court," he said.
