Makassar City Social Service Rapid Response Team (TRC) officers, South Sulawesi, have secured dozens of street children and beggars who carried out their actions at a number of red lights for disturbing road users and traffic flow.
"The control of street children and beggars is based on complaints and reports from the public who are greatly disturbed by their activities roaming the red lights," said Makassar Social Service Acting (Plt), Armin Paera, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, February 26.
These street children are considered to have disturbed the public. This is because the mode of begging is usinggal costumes and cartoon characters while holding music speakers. Ironically, some of them are still children and teenagers of school age.
The officer's video was recorded when a number of parents and their families tried to reclaim their child when they were taken by TRC on Jalan Adiyaksa, they even threw the Satpol PP officer's vehicle until it went viral on social media.
"They were angry and their child's emotions, wearing cigarette clothes, were secured by officers while chasing a car and then screaming. They threw stones at the officers," said Armin.
In the control, as many as 15 children were dressed inutas and two beggars were arrested during a raid to create the condition of the social illness. All of them were raids from a number of red light locations.
However, when they were accommodated at the TRC unit office on Jalan Abdullah Daeng Sirua, a number of families came shouting and went berserk so that their children were released by the Makassar Social Service.
"We have returned it to his parents, his family on the record of not allowing their children to roam the streets by signing a statement. Apart from being dangerous with activities on the streets, it also disrupts the flow of vehicle traffic," he asserted.
From the information obtained, every child or teenager who wears a blank costume rents a costume per day of Rp. 30 thousand, while for income earned between Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 150,000 per day.
So far, officers are still investigating the costume provider because the street children are increasingly looking for money in such a way.
