Declaration Of Anies Capres Unlike PKS, NasDem Concerns AHY's Statement As Being Sued By Democratic Cadres

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party has questioned the Democratic Party's commitment to support Anies Baswedan as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024. This is because the support for the presidential election expressed by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), is not like the declaration made by PKS.

Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali, assessed that Anies' declaration as the 2024 presidential candidate promoted by the Democrats must still go through the party's internal official mechanism. Because according to him, AHY's support for Anies was declared only in a release that could potentially be sued by Democratic cadres. "If in one decision it is not taken or determined by the party mechanism, it has the potential to be sued," Ali said when contacted, Saturday, February 25.

Ali emphasized that he did not doubt the Democrats' support for Anies who AHY stated in a written statement last January. However, he said, AHY's attitude was not necessarily accepted by all Democratic cadres.

"It's not that I doubt Mas AHY, but we can't turn a blind eye to that not everyone in the party says in one feeling, one frequency, right," said Ali. Statement of attitude for Anies' support as a presidential candidate by this Democrat, added Ali, is very different from PKS. Where PKS has made a decision to declare Anies through the meeting of the shuro assembly. Then, PKS President Ahmad Syaikhu invited Anies Baswedan to his office and declared officially as a presidential candidate in 2024 which was carried by his party.

"Yesterday they declared Anies. The Shura Council held a meeting and what was conveyed yesterday was the decision of the Shura Council, right," said Ali.

Previously, AHY said that his party no longer needed to formally declare Anies as a presidential candidate (readpres) in 2024. Because the Democrat's attitude clearly supports the former governor of DKI Jakarta to run in the 2024 presidential election.

"We have conveyed that the Democratic Party's attitude is very clear," said AHY after attending the KH Zainuddin MZ 12th Haul event, in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta, Friday, February 24, evening.

AHY also said that the Democrats had expressed their support for Anies when receiving a visit from the NasDem Party DPP some time ago.

"We also express what is the attitude and position of the Democratic Party regarding how this Amendment Coalition can be realized soon, it will be realized immediately," he stressed. However, he ensured that the declaration by his party was in accordance with the mechanism.

"For the declaration from the Democrats, it has been completed with a statement by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) at the end of last January.
