Members Of The DPR PKS Faction Ask The Government To Guarantee Food Availability During The Java-Bali PPKM

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IV DPR from the PKS faction Johan Rosihan asked the government to ensure the stabilization of food supply and prices during the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) in Java-Bali Island.

"This is important to do so that during this PSBB there will be no food problems that could harm national stability," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Friday, January 6.

According to Johan, this condition also resulted in the imposition of capacity restrictions for the operation of distribution of basic needs and food supplies to various regions in Java and Bali.

He reminded the government to improve the food distribution chain by ensuring supply and price stability of food through a strategy to increase food production in deficit areas to avoid a food crisis.

In addition, according to him, it is necessary to improve the food distribution system, develop institutions and encourage local food consumption in Java and Bali, and to anticipate high food prices.

Johan provides advice on logistics cost efficiency by developing food producing areas to be close to consumer areas.

"In addition, the government can implement a digital marketing system to facilitate transactions and apply social restrictions to meet people's food needs," said Johan.

He suggested that the government could design a food market that caters to individuals / families and a food market that serves businesses so that food stocks are monitored at controlled prices.

Previously, the government decided to implement the PPKM policy on January 11-25, 2021 in Java and Bali in response to active cases of COVID-19 which increased exponentially.
