Semarang Immigration Starts Eliminating 3,093 Hajj Passports 2023

SEMARANG - The Immigration Office of Semarang City, Central Java, has started serving passport making for prospective hajj pilgrims who will carry out the pilgrimage in 2023. "It has started to open since January 2023," said Semarang Immigration Traffic Section Head Thomas Aries Munandar as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 22. According to him, passport applications for Hajj purposes only came from the City and Regency of Semarang for a while. Since the beginning of the year, he continued, there have been about a thousand passport applications for Hajj purposes. Semarang Immigration office itself oversees the work area which includes Kendal, Demak, Grobogan, Kudus, Semarang, Semarang City, and Salatiga. According to him, a separate quota has been prepared for prospective hajj candidates who will make passports.

In addition, he continued, passport-making services for the pilgrimage can also be carried out in each area of origin with a pick-up mechanism by immigration officers. Meanwhile, the Semarang Immigration Office during January 2023 was recorded to have issued passports for 6,425 applicants. Of these, he continued, 3,093 passports were new issuances, while the rest were applications for replacements.
