First Visit Of The Minister Of Defense Of New Malaysia, Prabowo: Indication Of Good Defense Bilateral Relations

JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto is optimistic that Indonesia-Malaysia's bilateral relations will be getting closer. Mainly defense cooperation.

"Making Indonesia one of the first priority countries visited is an indication of good bilateral defense relations between the two countries," Prabowo said in his statement, Tuesday, February 21, as reported by Antara.

This was said by Prabowo when receiving a visit from the Minister of Defense of Malaysia, the Honorary Dato' Main Series of Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan at the Indonesian Ministry of Defense Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 21.

Prabowo appreciated the visit of the Malaysian Defense Minister who was officially inaugurated on December 3, 2022. According to him, the visit and introduction to the Indonesian Ministry of Defense showed a close bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He believes that the experience and capacity of the Minister of Defense Mohamad will be able to improve the defense cooperation relationship that has been well established so far.

Previously, Indonesia and Malaysia had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the defense sector on August 8, 2022.

Prabowo is optimistic that with this understanding, the defense cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense, education, operations, and joint exercises will be more significant.

He emphasized that the Indonesian Ministry of Defense continues to be committed to together with the Malaysian Ministry of Defense creating a harmonious and mutually beneficial defense bilateral relationship.

According to him, this is in line with good relations at the level of the head of state of the Republic of Indonesia-Malaysia.
