JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Karyoto and the Director of Investigation of the KPK Endar Priantoro were reported due to a Formula E investigation in Jakarta on January 13.
By reporters who come from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), they are considered unprofessional and violate procedures.
"The report contains allegations of unprofessionalism and procedural violations by the Deputy for Enforcement and Director of Investigation in handling the Formula E case," said Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, chairman of the KPK Council in a written statement, Thursday, February 16.
Tumpak did not want to talk much about the unprofessionalism and violation of the procedure. However, he stated that even if there were differences of opinion in efforts to investigate allegations of corruption, it was normal.
In addition, the KPK Council has also requested that the investigation into the alleged corruption of Formula E be immediately decided whether or not to go up to investigation. This request was made during the Supervision Coordination Meeting (Rakorwas) of the fourth quarter of 2022 between the Council and the KPK leadership on 17 January.
"It has been agreed that the completion and clarity of the status of the Formula E case will be immediately decided by the KPK leadership," he said.
"This means that if evidence is found of alleged corruption, it must immediately be raised from the investigation stage to the investigation stage. Vice versa," continued Tumpak.
Previously, KPK Council Member Syamsuddin Haris confirmed that someone had complained about Karyoto and Endar. It is suspected that there was a violation during the Formula E investigation process.
"Yes, that's right (there was a complaint, ed)," said KPK Dewas member Syamsudin Haris to reporters, Tuesday, January 24.
Syamsuddin did not specify the complaint. He only confirmed that the KPK Council was conducting the analysis after receiving the report.
"It is being studied by the Council," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the process of investigating the racing event, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata said there were a number of obstacles they found during the Formula E investigation. One of them, they have not been able to ask for assistance from the British KPK or the Serious Fraud Office (SFO).
Even so, the KPK has repeatedly conducted an exposure to the alleged corruption investigation in the implementation of Formula E in Jakarta. This step is considered good so that every development can be monitored.
"It's natural that when solving an open investigation case, it is carried out by exposing many times and so on, it is actually good for us," said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 17.
