Expanding Excellent Schools, The Vice President Wants Many Of The Best Students From North Sumatra

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked for more flagship schools in North Sumatra (North Sumatra) to improve the quality of education and the number of competitive graduates from North Sumatra.

This was conveyed by the Vice President after visiting Matauli Pandan 1 Public High School, Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra, Wednesday, February 15.

"This school model (like) must be reproduced," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

The Vice President said that the key to the progress of a nation lies in superior human resources (HR) who master science and technology, so the existence of superior schools is important for increasing human resources in an area.

On this occasion, the Vice President also met with the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Founder of the Maju Tapian Nauli Foundation (Matauli) Akbar Tanjung, who is also the former chairman of the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar).

Akbar Tanjung asked the Principal of SMAN 1 Matauli Pandan Deden Rachmawan to explain information about SMAN 1 Matauli Pandan to the Vice President.

"SMA Negeri 1 Matauli Pandan has been established since 1994, and now there are 29 batches and 26 batches have graduated. So the number of students currently studying at SMA Negeri 1 Matauli Pandan is 1,211 students," explained Deden.

Deden said the number of teachers at SMAN 1 Matauli Pandan was 82 people and the teaching staff was 64 people, while the curriculum implemented was the independent curriculum with the independent sharing category.

"Currently we have implemented or implemented, where in the curriculum, we emphasize students to be able to study independently in order to achieve their respective goals. We have achieved quite a number of achievements, and our alumni have taken on a lot, be it in government, in the private sector, in the TNI, or in the police and various kinds of professions in Indonesia," he explained.

Deden hopes that the Vice President's visit to the school can increase motivation and achievement at SMAN 1 Matauli Pandan.

"Hopefully his visit (Vice President) at SMA Negeri 1 Matauli Pandan can continue to increase our motivation, increase our enthusiasm to maintain achievement, as well as increase achievement," he added.

Deden also added that, at SMA Negeri 1 Matauli Pandan, he always participated in government programs, one of which was the Advanced Indonesia Scholarship program.

"17 of our students have participated in the program (Advance Indonesia Scholarships), and they will continue their studies at various universities abroad," explained Deden.

"Hopefully in the coming year, the number of our students who can take part in scholarship programs from the government abroad will increase even more," he hoped.
