ERP In Jakarta Is Planned To Use Satellite Technology Such As Toll Roads Without Tap Machines

JAKARTA - Pay road system planning or electronic road pricing (ERP) in Jakarta is still in the process of drafting regulations contained in the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on Electronic Traffic Control (PL2SE) that has not been discussed.

However, the Chairman of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ismail, admitted that he had received a brief explanation of the technology that would be used in the implementation of paid roads, namely using satellites.

"We are only briefly listening to the choice of technology that will be used. The technology is most likely to use satellites because it is more possible to implement the intelligence transport system (ITS)," Ismail told reporters, Wednesday, February 15.

Satellite technology, which will be implemented in ERP, aims to identify vehicles that are included in the imposition of paid road rates and excluded vehicles.

"This satellite model that will be tested is MLFF (multi lane free flow). Like a toll road without (machine) tapping, it uses satellite technology. Later, ERP will be like that," said Ismail.

Meanwhile, the projection of the investment value for ERP procurement to the plan to cooperate with investor partners and ERP operators in the form of DBOT cooperation (design-building-operate-transfer) has not been discussed.

"The discussion has not yet reached there (handlers with partners). We have only recently listened to the choice of technology that will be used. The technology used is most likely the satellite. Although the investment is greater, it is more expensive, but this technology is more appropriate to implement ITS earlier," he explained.

For information, the draft Raperda PL2SE which regulates the implementation of ERP has been included in the 2023 regional regulation formation program (propemperda). Articles per article discussion has not been carried out. However, now the ERP implementation plan has drawn rejection.

The online motorcycle taxi driver group (ojol) previously held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building and DKI Jakarta City Hall. They expressed their rejection of the ERP implementation.

When the ojol raided the DKI City Hall some time ago, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, admitted that he would bring back or withdraw the draft Raperda PL2SE from the DKI DPRD.

However, in its development, Syafrin admitted that he would not withdraw the draft Raperda, but only conduct a thorough review by considering input from the public.
