Observer: Blusukan Risma Must Be Consistent, No Need To Imitate Jokowi

JAKARTA - Executive Director of Voxpol Center Research and Consulting, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, asked Social Minister Tri Rismaharani to consistently implement blusukan action. Do not let this pattern follow certain candidates for office or politicians who want to advance in political contestation.

"So this is only seasonal ahead of the Pilkada, for example. Seasonal to pump electability, seasonality takes people's empathy for short-term interests, this is the problem! So that's what's negative for our leaders," explained Pangi to VOI in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 6.

According to Ipang, this blusukan pattern had already been done by Joko Widodo when he was running as the Governor of DKI Jakarta with his partner, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). Or during the 2020 presidential election, where Jokowi was still 'loyal' to this strategy.

It's just that there are inconsistencies in the blusukan pattern. According to Ipang, after becoming President, Jokowi rarely did blusukan. This also makes the public perceive blusukan as an old pattern or merely ceremonial.

"In the beginning, when I wanted to become president, I was blusukan, entered the sewer, boarded bajaj, met traders. But after becoming president it was difficult. Is this because of the presidential protocol? Yes, the point is inconsistent, it is difficult for our officials," said Ipang.

In general, the image of a leader who directly listens to the complaints of the people is a positive thing. He not only listens to reports from his subordinates but knows exactly what the needs of his community are.

"I think this is good and a role model for all," said Ipang.
