KSAL Muhammad Ali Expressed The Terms To Make Lantamal Worthy Of BeingCOMing A Kodamar

JAKARTA - The Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Muhammad Ali revealed the requirements for a main base of the Indonesian Navy (lantamal) that deserves to be raised to become a maritime area command (kodamar). In general, Lantamal must fulfill the ability to facilitate 5R. "Of course, the requirements that have 5R capabilities have been fulfilled. The 5R has a rebase, repair, repair, rest, and recreation," said Ali at the Indonesian Navy Headquarters, Cilangkap, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, February 13. The Lantamal, which will rise to Kodamar, must be able to support the escort of the main weapon system (alutsista) that operates in its area. Then the lantamal must also have the ability to defend bases or coastal defenses if there is a threat that tries to control the coast, one of which is the presence of a base defense marine battalion (yonmarhanlan) in its area of operation. "Yonmarhanlan must be there. Later we will also develop Yonmarhanlan into a security unit for the base," said Ali. In the future, Kasal continued, the ability to defend the coastal defense, a lantamal that has been upgraded to a Kodamar, must also be prepared. "Later in the future, we will also prepare coaltal defense, beach missiles, that is the function of the Kodamar," he said. In addition, a lantamal that is raised to Kodamar must also have territorial capabilities in fostering supporting components in its operational area. "For example, there are ship docks, ship refueling facilities and aircraft. So there is a runway for Navy aircraft. That must be prepared to become a Kodamar, that is first," said Ali. Kasal said that the Indonesian Navy continues to finalize the increase in a number of lantamals into Kodamar, according to the plan of its predecessor, Admiral Yudo Margono, who is now the TNI Commander. However, unlike Yudo's original plan which stated that all 14 lantamals would become Kodamar, Kasal Ali said that his party would only increase a few lantamals to become Kodamars without mentioning the exact number. "It's just a huge amount that we have developed into Kodamar. So maybe the number remains the same, only some of the existing 14 lantamals will probably become Kodamar," said Ali. Kasal also said that the implementation of the increase in several lantamals to become Kodamar would be carried out in stages, in which he mentioned that Lantamal III Jakarta and Lantamal V Surabaya as examples of two lantamals which were considered ready to be raised to become Kodamar. Yudo proposed plan to increase the traffic to become a Kodamar in March 2022, during his tenure as Kasal, regarding the proposed late change in the State Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago, East Kalimantan. According to Yudo, this is in accordance with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 66 of 2009 concerning the Organizational Structure of the TNI which mandates that the Kodamar serve as the command of the coastline. Kodamar will later be led by a maritime commander (pangkodamar) of high-ranking two-star officers, while the current lantamal is led by the commander of the lantamal (danlantamal), namely the one-star regent.
