JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency conducted analysis of traffic movement (mobility) on five roads. The Transportation Agency cooperates with Google to optimize traffic lights to relieve congestion.

"We have collaborated at the end of last year with Google and they are conducting data analysis," said Head of DKI Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo at Jakarta City Hall, Monday, February 13.

The Transportation Agency together with Google conducted a trial of traffic observations along Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Diponegoro, Jalan Proklamasi, Jalan Pramuka, and Jalan Pemuda.

On the road, he said, eight intersections were arranged with traffic lights. From this analysis, the DKI Transportation Agency will pocket the latest data related to traffic light conditions.

This result will be used to optimize traffic light along the corridor. If there is any performance improvement, this corridor will expand its territory," he said.

In line with this step, Syafrin explained that his party also built a transportation intelligence system for traffic control.

The target, he said, is that in the near future 20 road intersections will be coordinated with the system to unravel congestion.

"On the other hand, of course, with public transportation services, we will continue to integrate them, including increasing the quality of public transportation services," he said.

Last year, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government added 30 electric buses used by TransJakarta and it is targeted that by the end of this year there will be 220 electric buses operating.

Some of these efforts are expected to add ways to unravel traffic congestion which has been implemented so far, including odd-even, plans to close 27 back laps to the discourse of paid electronic roads (ERP).

Prior to that, there was also a three-in one (3 in 1) policy to reduce congestion in Jakarta, which has now been stopped and replaced with odd-even.
