DKI Provincial Government Will Build A JPO Near The Kebayoran Skywalk, PSI Calls It Better To Build A Trotoar

Chairman of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo, assessed that the plan to build a pedestrian bridge (JPO) near the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk is not really needed.

According to Anggara, the DKI Provincial Government is better off fixing the sidewalks in that location. According to him, pedestrian access is important to revitalize to make it more comfortable.

"The DKI Provincial Government still has a lot of homework to do regarding pedestrian access throughout Jakarta. Make sure pedestrians can carry out mobility comfortably rather than building overlapping JPOs. There are a lot of JPOs but walking on the sidewalks is still uncomfortable," Anggara told reporters, Friday, February 10.

According to him, comfortable and integrated sidewalk facilities can increase the number of users of public transportation and reduce the movement of private vehicles.

"We certainly still have a vision to increase users of public transportation to reduce congestion. If pedestrian paths are well integrated, more people will want to switch from private vehicles to public transportation," he said.

Moreover, said Anggara, the recently inaugurated Kebayoran Lama Skywalk can function as an integration route for a number of modes of transportation as well as public crossing access.

The flyover, which has a length of 452 meters, connects the Transjakarta Velbak Bus Stop (koridor 3), Kebayoran Lama Bus Stop (koridor 8), and Kebayoran Lama Station.

"I ask for its efficiency to be reviewed, if the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk can be a means of crossing, why should the JPO be made near there again? Regarding the imposition of tariffs, it is only a technical problem, it can be separated. The point is not to carry out inefficient development," he said.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency budgeted Rp. 15 billion for the construction of the Kebayoran Lama JPO to accommodate the mobility of the public, not public transport passengers.

"It is targeted for November this year and this is still a planning process," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency Hari Nugroho at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Tuesday, February 7.

He said the JPO construction plan had been designed since the construction of the Kebayoran Lama Skywalk. The Kebayoran Lama Skywalk construction was carried out from March to completion of construction in November 2022.

Therefore, the plan to build the JPO is not because complaints from users of public transportation services related to being charged when using a skywalk.

"Actually, in the past, we wanted to integrate the skywalk with the JPO, but because the design was a bit difficult, we finally broke out, the important thing was the skywalk first," he said.
