Padang Rutan Forms Of Posyandu Lansia Ready To Check Hypertension And Prisoners' Blood Sugar

SUMBAR - The Padang State Detention Center (Rutan) will form an integrated service post (posyandu) for the elderly (elderly) to improve the health status of the inmates or narapida who are 60 years old and over.

"The elderly Posyandu was launched on Wednesday (February) to provide medical services and treatment for inmates aged 60 years and over," said Padang Rutan Head Muhammad Mehdi in Padang, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Thursday, February 9, confiscated by Antara.

He said that the elderly are one of the vulnerable groups that need special attention in order to ensure that their health rights are fulfilled and maintained.

Mehdi explained that the elderly posyandu consisting of two doctors and two nurses will carry out routine health checks once a month.

Checks include measurements of weight, blood sugar, blood pressure tests to prevent hypertension and interviews and health-related education.

"If from the results of the examination it is found that the condition of the elderly who need treatment or further treatment, then we will follow up," he explained.

He revealed that currently the Padang Rutan has 700 residents, 30 of whom are elderly.

In line with the formation of the elderly Posyandu, the Padang Rutan also formed health cadres who will be trained for the next week.

The Padang detention center as an agency under the auspices of the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights is responsible for maintaining the health of prisoners who are undergoing legal proceedings.

"The Padang Detention function is responsible for guarding prisoners who are undergoing legal proceedings in court, health is a right that must be given," he said.

The presence of Posyandu is expected to increase the health level of the elderly so that they remain healthy while undergoing trial until they have finished serving their sentence.
