According to Heru, the massive transfer of a number of people to settle from Jakarta to East Kalimantan did not reduce the number of private vehicles.

"Regarding IKN, the person who moved to IKN did not bring a car. His car is still in Jakarta, still traveling. Still, the traffic jam is still there," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, February 9.

Even though he no longer holds the status of the capital city, Heru said that Jakarta will still be the prima donna for the investment sector in Indonesia.

This is because Jakarta is projected to be the center of the city of economy and business after it is no longer the capital city. Thus, mobility density in Jakarta did not change immediately.

"But traffic jams, yes, the name DKI infrastructure has been completed, even though it has moved to IKN, there must be a new economic generation. Surely people are still investing in Jakarta," said Heru.

It's just that, according to him, there must be a reduction in the number of congestion, although not significant. "Maybe it's reduced. I don't know how much research is needed," he said.

Some time ago, the Director of Traffic of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Latif Usman said the current traffic density in Jakarta was similar to what happened in 2019. Where, at that time the congestion index reached 53 percent.

On the one hand, President Joko Widodo today highlighted congestion in big cities. Jokowi said that traffic jams are currently not only happening in Jakarta, but also in other big cities outside Jakarta, such as Medan, Bandung, Surabaya, and Makassar.
