Tens Of Thousands Of Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine Arrive In Yogyakarta Ready For Distribution

JAKARTA - Tens of thousands of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine made by Sinovac, sent from Biofarma, Bandung, West Java, arrived at the Pharmacy Warehouse of the DIY Health Service, Jalan Kyai Mojo, Bener Village, Tegalrejo District, Yogyakarta City on Tuesday, January 5 morning at 06.09 WIB .

Based on on-site monitoring, Antara reported that tens of thousands of vaccines were transported by refrigerated box trucks owned by PT. Biofarma, escorted by two units of Barracuda armored cars belonging to the Brimob Corps, as well as a number of motorbikes.

After entering the DIY Health Office Pharmacy Warehouse, a number of Brimob Polda DIY members were fully armed and immediately guarded the road to the warehouse. Media crews and the public are not allowed to enter the area.

Previously, the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X explained that the COVID-19 vaccination process in Yogyakarta will begin on January 14, 2021.

"Implementation of immunization we schedule around January 14 and prioritized for health (personnel)," he said.

Sultan explained that for the first stage, DIY received 26,800 doses specifically intended for health workers.

Next for the second stage, DIY will receive 555,290 doses intended for the public service sector and the elderly (elderly).

The third stage, continued Sultan, will be devoted to vulnerable groups of 995,353 doses and the final stage of 1,067,912 doses of vaccine for essential economic actors and other communities.

Thus, in total, from the four stages, DIY received 2,605,179 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

He said the implementation of the four stages of COVID-19 vaccination in DIY requires 1,313 vaccinators or people who are tasked with carrying out vaccinations. To date, only 331 health workers have been trained.

"We need readiness starting January 7 for education, training, and so on," said the King of the Yogyakarta Palace.
