BMKG Estimates That 4 Water Points In NTT Will Be Hit By Waves Of 3.5 Meters Until February 11th

NTT - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reports that waves as high as 3.5 meters are likely to hit four points in the sea area in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

said Head of the Tenau Kupang Maritime Meteorological Station, BMKG Syaeful Hadi, said the early warning of high waves in the NTT waters was valid from 9-11 February.

"Four points of the sea area are likely to be hit by waves as high as 2.5-3.5 meters, namely the southern part of the Sawu Sea, the southern Indian Ocean Sumba Sabu, the southern waters of Kupang-Rote, and the southern Indian Ocean of Kupang-Rote," he said in Kupang, NTT, Wednesday, February 8, was confiscated by Antara.

Syaeful said, apart from the four points of sea waters, generally the sea area in NTT has the opportunity to be hit by moderate waves 1.5-2.5 meters over the next few days.

Medium category waves, he said, also need to be watched out for because they have a high risk of shipping fishing boats and barges.

He added, meanwhile synoptic conditions showed generally the direction of the wind moving from southwest to northwest with wind speeds of 2-7 Beaufort scale.

Syaeful reminded fishermen and ship operators to be aware of potential disasters. He hopes to continue to monitor the development of maritime weather information released by BMKG as a reference to support safe and smooth service activities.
