Team Ditreskrimsus Polda Aceh Capture 7 Illegal Gold Miners

JAKARTA - The Sub-Directorate IV Team for Certain Crimes at the Aceh Regional Police's Ditreskrimsus arrested seven suspected illegal gold miners in the Beutong area, Nagan Raya Regency.

Director of the Special Criminal Investigation of the Aceh Police, Kombes Winardy, said that the disclosure of the illegal mine was based on public information. The public is troubling the existence of the illegal mine because it damages the environment.

"Seven perpetrators were arrested while mining without a permit in Agoy Village, Beutong District, Nagan Raya Regency on Tuesday (7/2). Of the seven perpetrators, one of them is the owner of the mine site," Winardy said, Wednesday, February 8, quoted by Antara.

Kombes Winardy said the seven suspected perpetrators of illegal gold mining who were arrested were SFA (23), JM (31), TM (38), KR (43), HZ (37), and RD (40), as well as the owner of the mine site with the initials DA (48).

The evidence confiscated during the disclosure of the illegal mine was one unit of excavator type heavy equipment, one digital scale, one gold excavation record recapitulation book, one black sand jar containing gold, two indang, and two jerry cans filled with diesel oil.

"We urge the public to support the prosecution of illegal mines. These actions are to save the environment from illegal mining. Mining is carried out without a permit to have a negative impact on the environment, including flooding," he said.

Previously, the Tipidter Sub-Directorate IV Team of the Aceh Police Special Criminal Investigation Directorate arrested three suspected perpetrators of illegal gold mining and confiscated one unit of heavy equipment excavator in the Geumpang area, Pidie Regency.

"Three suspected illegal mining actors were arrested in Alu Empuk Village, Geumpang District, Pidie Regency, Saturday (21/1)," said Winardy, who is also the former Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police.

The middle-ranking Aceh Police officer said the arrest of the illegal mining perpetrators stemmed from public reports. Based on this information, the Aceh Police Ditreskrimsus team moved to the location.

"The team immediately secured the heavy equipment along with two operators and another owner. The perpetrator and heavy equipment were taken to the Aceh Regional Police in Banda Aceh for further investigation," he said.
