Don't Worry, The Government Guarantees Data Security For COVID-19 Vaccine Recipients

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 vaccine from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Siti Nadia Tarmizi, emphasized that the government guarantees the security of data on vaccine recipients.

This was conveyed by him in connection with the SMS notification received by vaccine recipients using the SMS blast method which is integrated with the application of care for protection.

"We need to emphasize that the data security of vaccine recipients is guaranteed by the government and its management is based on laws and regulations in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Communication and Information Number 253 of 2020," said Nadia in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, January 4.

He explained that in an effort to obtain personal data including population data, the government would of course comply with the applicable laws and regulations. In addition, this data is also equipped with a security system so that it cannot be used arbitrarily for other purposes outside of handling COVID-19.

Furthermore, Nadia explained what must be done by prospective vaccine recipients who have received a short message. He said, the recipients of the short message from the ID named Peduli COVID are required to verify before registering to enter data, health status, choosing a place to schedule the vaccination.

This verification and registration process, he continued, can only be done online by those who already have access.

If potential vaccine recipients who have received text messages cannot verify and register due to network problems, they can ask for assistance from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force in the local sub-district to register.

"This registration is very important because it is an effort to verify by answering the questions that will be asked by the system to confirm domicile and simple screening for comorbidities it suffers," he said.

Previously reported, the Ministry of Health has sent SMS blasts to recipients of the first phase vaccine, mainly to health workers since last Friday, December 31. The sending of this SMS is stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Health Number HK.01.07 / MENKES / 12757/2020 concerning the Determination of the Target for the Implementation of the COVID-19 Vaccination.

In this decision, Minister of Health Budi Sadikin said that his party set a target for the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination, starting with the sending of notification via SMS blast on December 31, 2020.

People who receive notification via SMS Blast as referred to in must follow the implementation of COVID-19 vaccination. However, the exception is for people who do not meet the criteria for receiving the COVID-19 vaccine according to the indications for the available COVID-19 vaccine.
