Strikes, Private Cars For Illegal Cigarette Transportationrs Procured By Central Java Customs And Excise

Customs and Excise revealed two cases of sending illegal cigarettes using private cars. The disclosure was made in two different areas in Central Java (Central Java).

Head of Customs and Excise for the Central Java Region and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Akhmad Rofiq, said that the two separate disclosures were in Grobogan and Tegal, respectively.

In the disclosure of illegal cigarettes in Grobogan, he said, it started with the accident of a car.

In handling the incident, the vehicle that had an accident turned out to be carrying illegal cigarettes.

"The vehicle has been modified so that it looks like a car carrying goods," he said in Semarang, Central Java, Monday, February 6, was confiscated by Antara.

In the second disclosure, he continued, Customs and Excise officers also secured a private car carrying illegal cigarettes while crossing the toll road to the west.

Akhmad Rofiq said the car would send the illegal cigarettes to Sumatra.

From the two disclosures, officers secured 626,000 illegal cigarettes with an economic value of Rp. 713.6 million.

It was also stated that the potential loss to the state saved from the two disclosures amounted to Rp649 million.

The perpetrators will be charged with Law Number 39 of 2007 concerning Excise.
