BANDA ACEH - The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) stated that the Sumatran tiger (panthera tigris sumatrae) which entered a trap cage in South Aceh District was seriously injured.

Rosa Rika Wahyuni, the Aceh BKSDA medical team, said that there were four points of serious injuries to the tiger. The tiger is female with an estimated age of three to four years.

"The team has treated the wound. There were four serious injuries to the tiger with a depth of up to 10 centimeters. The tiger is in good condition," said Rosa Rika Wahyuni, reported by ANTARA, Sunday, February 5.

The tiger's wound was caused by a sharp object. The wound points were on the left face, head, back, and back of the body.

"Of the four injuries, two of them were old wounds. Meanwhile, the head wound was quite severe, the skull was visible. Likewise on the left face, down to the bone," said Rosa.

It is suspected that the wound was due to resistance when the protected animal attacked residents some time ago.

The tiger entered a trap cage after attacking a number of residents in the Mount Simpali forest area, Koto Village, Central Kluet District, South Aceh District.

After entering the trap, these protected animals were evacuated from the forest via the river and taken to the Gunung Leuser National Park Office in Tapaktuan, the capital of South Aceh District.

Previously, two farmers and a forestry patrol team were seriously injured by a tiger in the Mount Sampali forest area, Gampong Koto, Central Kluet District, South Aceh District.

The attack on protected animals occurred twice, first on Saturday (28/1) with the victim of a forestry patrol team named Rusdianto. The second attack occurred on Wednesday (1/2) with the victims father and son, Amrizal (65) and Hafifi Yunanda (29).

The three victims suffered a number of injuries all over their bodies after being attacked by a tiger. Currently, the three victims are being treated at the Yuliddin Away Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Tapaktuan, the capital of South Aceh Regency.
