Once Joined HTI, Vice Dean Unpad Was Replaced

JAKARTA - Padjajaran University (Unpad) replaced the Deputy Dean for Resources and Organization of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences. Deputy dean Asep Agus Handaka Suryana is suspected of having participated in the Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI) organization which was dissolved by the government in 2017.

In a press statement it was explained that Unpad was always committed to carrying out its function as a higher education institution by always maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution and caring about the dynamics of the nation that occurred.

This is also said to apply in determining officials within the university including in the dean and deputy dean appointment process which lasted until January 2.

"In this regard and based on the information obtained regarding the track record of Dr. Asep Agus Handaka Suryana, Spi. MTs that were not found and not conveyed to university leaders during the faculty representative selection process, Unpad issued Rector's Decree Number 86 / UN6.RKT / Kep-HJ / 2021 regarding the dismissal of Dr. Asep Agus Handaka Suryana from his position as deputy dean of resources and organizations FPIK, "said the press statement of Unpad, Monday, January 4.

Furthermore, the Unpad Chancellor appointed Dr. Ir Eddy Afrianto MSi as his replacement. This appointment was based on the rector's decree No.87 / UN6 / RKT / Kep-HK / 2021.

"The replacement and inauguration of the vice dean of resources and organization of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Unpad will be held on Monday, January 4," continued the press statement quoted.

Regarding the dismissal of Asep Agus Handaka Suryana's deputy chief executive officer, presidential spokesman Fadjroel Rachman tweeted via his Twitter account @ fadjroeL. He said the dismissal of Asep Agus Handaka Suryana was due to his background as HTI management.
