18m High Tree Breaks Over Residents' Houses And Animal Cages In Cakung

JAKARTA - Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and lightning caused a large Singan tree that was in the middle of a residential area to suddenly collapse.

The incident occurred on Jalan Raya Tipar Cakung, Gang Bengkel 2, RT 06/08, Cakung Barat Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta on Thursday, February 2, evening.

Part of the tree trunk with a diameter of about 60 cm hit the roof of the residents' houses and livestock cages. The overturning of the 18 meter tall Angsana tree was immediately reported by residents to the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. for evacuation.

After arriving at the location, Gulkarmat officers assisted by PPSU officers evacuated tree cutting.

"The cause of the fallen tree occurred when it was raining with big winds. After receiving the report, we deployed 4 rescue personnel and 1 truck to evacuate trees at the location," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, Thursday, February 2, evening.

Evacuation was carried out by slowly cutting logs using a chainsaw.

"The evacuation process was completed at 22.07 WIB. The fallen tree had covered the residents' road access," he said.
