As A Follower, Cak Imin Ready To Study The Elimination Of Governor's Position

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin said his party was ready to propose a study of the removal of the governor's position to the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI.

"It's in the process, almost ready to propose," he said on the sidelines of attending the DKI Jakarta Ijtima Ulama quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 2.

The deputy chairman of the DPR explained that in the first PKB study that was abolished was the regional head election (Pilkada) for the governor.

"The short term is the governor's election, because it is tiring. The regional elections are enough for regents and mayors plus presidential elections," he explained.

According to him, the direct regional elections for the governor were very ineffective. Because the authority and program are not proportional to the fatigue of the implementation of the elections directly.

"It is not comparable to the fatigue of the Pilkada directly, be it the direct regional election competition zone, or government practices that do not come into direct contact with the people," he explained.

The next stage, said Muhaimim, is to eliminate the governor's position. However, he said, it would require a long process and in-depth study accompanied by constitutional considerations.

The governor's position later said Muhaimin was a representative of the central government. His name can still be the governor, it could be another name that is the level below the minister or if necessary the level is at the ministerial level.

"Whether the proposal from the DPR was submitted to the president or from the president three names was submitted to the DPRD to vote. What is important is the long hand of the central government," he asserted.
