JAKARTA - Simeulue Police Chief AKBP Jatmiko apologized for police officers in his ranks who allegedly slapped a teenager in an archipelagic area in the Indian Ocean, Aceh Province.

"I have visited the victim and apologized to the family. We also immediately conveyed the legal process for these individuals," said Jatmiko in Simeulue, Thursday, February 2.

AKBP Jatmiko explained that the victim named Farhan was 18 years old. The victim reported the alleged abuse by police officers who served at the Simeulue Police Station, Brigadier I on Sunday (29/1).

The alleged abuse occurred when the victim rode a motorbike past the car driven by Brigadier I and was almost hit. However, the victim shouted at the police officers inappropriately, resulting in persecution.

The police chief said the report on the alleged abuse by the police had been received by the Simeulue Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The report has also been handled by the profession and security (Propam).

"The reported police officers have been detained by Propam. This case is still in process. As police chief in Simeulue, we apologize to the victim and his family for the actions taken by my subordinates," Jatmiko said as quoted by Antara.
