"In my opinion, if we suddenly eliminate a very strategic position to run a government that has been running for decades, it must go through a fairly in-depth study," said Doli at the Golkar Party DPP office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Wednesday, February 1. Doli explained that the government structure in Indonesia had been structured in such a way through the 1945 Constitution. So, if suddenly there is a change in structure that takes a very strategic position like the governor, then it takes a lot of effort that must be done and not easy. "So extending the term of office of the village head is not easy, you have to replace the law, let alone want to abolish the governor. That's also not an easy procedure," said Doli. The leader of the commission that manages the government, said that Cak Imin's proposal regarding the elimination of the governor's position has no reference. But if it really is done, a very, very deep study is needed. Because we have eliminated a range of government control that has been going on for a long time," explained Doli As for the reason for the elimination of the position for the efficiency of the budget, Doli said, in the end there must be an overhaul in the structure of Indonesian state administration. Because so far, according to him, the governor's function in government is very significant as a mediator between the central government and local governments. "So we have to study the issue of one of our constitutional structures in the end. If there is a problem of making efficiency or various things, it has a size. What makes us think that the governor is inefficient so far? As far as I know, so far the governor's function has been running well, he is an extension of the central government in the regions," said Doli. "If the governor does not exist, what media or institution can coordinate all development or running of government in the regions? But with expensive democracy does it make the way of government effective? Well, it needs to be studied again," he continued. So far, according to Doli, the structure of Indonesian government starting from the central level to the district/city level even the district or village level, has gone well. "If for example we want to change, especially those who are extremely withdrawing from such governorships, we have to do an in-depth study. And the changes are not immediately, yes.
