Rupiah Still Muscled And Strengthened Again, To A Level Of Rp13,690 Per US Dollar

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate has strengthened again. At the close of trading on Wednesday, February 5, the rupiah exchange rate strengthened by 25 points or 0.18 percent at the level of Rp13,690 per US dollar.

"The latest news that provides positive sentiment to the market is news about the progress of the development of a vaccine for the corona virus by British scientists," Monex Investindo Futures Research Head Ariston Tjendra told VOI.

The currencies in the Asian region tend to be diverse. The Taiwan dollar became the strongest currency after strengthening 0.25 percent against the US dollar.

The Chinese yuan and Indian rupee followed, gaining 0.17 percent and 0.08 percent, respectively. The Thai baht and Hong Kong dollar also lifted 0.07 percent and 0.01 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Singapore dollar was the currency that weakened the most against the US dollar after dropping 0.75 percent. This was followed by the Korean won and Malaysian ringgit which eroded 0.31 percent and 0.26 percent, respectively.

The Philippine peso also fell 0.11 percent. Similarly, the Japanese yen also fell 0.08 percent.
