JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Pol Argo Yuwono, said that the prohibition of uploading content from the Islamic Defenders Front as stated in the Chief of Police's declaration issued on Friday, January 1, did not mean that a ban had occurred. He emphasized that the points in the announcement were aimed at reminding the public not to spread content that violates the law.

"The most important thing is that by issuing this edict, we do not mean that it is rebuffed. No," Argo told reporters, Friday, January 1.

According to him, content related to FPI is still allowed as long as what is accessed or uploaded does not contain fake news or hoaxes, does not have the potential to cause disruption of social security and division, and offend SARA.

"But with regard to what is prohibited, it is not allowed to be redistributed, or to be reported again in violation of the law, that is essentially an announcement signed by the Chief of Police," he said.

As previously reported, the National Police Chief General Idham Azis issued an edict numbered Mak / 1 / I / 2021 concerning Compliance with the Prohibition of Activities, Use of Symbols and Attributes, and Termination of Activities of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

This edict is issued in reference to Joint Decree Number 220-4780 of 2020, Number M.HH.14.HH.05.05 Year 2020, Number 690 Year 2020, Number 264 Year 2020, Number KB / 3 / XII / 2020, and Number 320 2020 concerning the Prohibition of Activities, Use of Symbols and Attributes, and Termination of FPI Activities.

Through this announcement, the National Police Chief emphasized that the public should not facilitate FPI activities or use the symbols and attributes of these community organizations.

"The community is not involved either directly or indirectly in supporting and facilitating activities and using FPI symbols and attributes," he was quoted as saying from the Kapolri's point of understanding.

In addition, people who find activities and the use of FPI symbols and attributes are asked to report to the police and not take any actions that violate the law.
