Asked When KIB Declarationed A Presidential Candidate, Agung Laksono: Ketum Golkar Are Prepared

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Expert Council of the Golkar Party, Agung Laksono, said that in the near future the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) will declare a candidate pair (paslon) for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

Currently, said Agung, General Chairperson (Ketum) of Golkar Airlangga Hartarto is preparing the steps right before the declaration. It is believed that the party and coalition will take the right decision.

"It has often been conveyed by the chairman of the Golkar DPP, Mr. Airlangga Hartarto, that he is preparing and taking the right steps, in heading towards what we hope to do, namely the achievement of a pair of presidential and vice-presidential candidates," he said at the Golkar DPP Office, Slipi, Jakarta, Sunday, January 29.

Agung said he was optimistic that in the near future KIB would declare. In fact, he said, the announcement will certainly be made this year.

"I believe this year there will be a decision because indeed this year there must be registration," he said.

Regarding the figure who will be carried in the 2024 presidential election, Agung hopes that in accordance with the party's decision, namely making Airlangga Hatarto a presidential candidate (Capres).

Agung acknowledged that this wish must be discussed first with KIB. This is because Golkar cannot carry it alone because it is constrained by the threshold for nominating a candidate pair, namely 20 percent of the national vote.

"Later, who is the partner with, of course, you have to talk to KIB," he said.
