BANGKA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) highlighted three points prone to tidal flooding in Central Bangka Regency that residents must watch out for.

"Three points have the potential for tidal flooding because geographically it is located in a coastal area," said Head of Central Bangka BPBD Yudi Shabara in Koba, Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), Friday, January 27, confiscated by Antara. The three points prone to tidal flooding, namely in Kurau Village, Batu Behole Village and Kampung Sinar Laut where road conditions and residential areas are lower with sea level.

Yudi said that it was responding to extreme weather conditions in recent weeks and triggered tidal flooding in several areas in Babel.

Although the tidal flood did not have time to hit Central Bangka Regency, residents were still advised to remain vigilant, especially at the three points mentioned. "We of course place several emergency response officers who routinely monitor the three tidal flood-prone points and report if a disaster emergency occurs," he said.

In addition, residents living in coastal areas are also reminded to be more vigilant, especially against the threat of tidal flooding and strong winds.

Some of the strong winds in the area, said Yudi, on average hit settlements in coastal areas.

"In addition to tidal flooding, strong winds or tornadoes must also be watched out for because previously there have been several areas hit by strong winds that damaged hundreds of houses," said Yudi.

Previously, in 2022 strong winds had hit almost all sub-districts which damaged around 300 houses, with conditions of severe, moderate and mild damage.

"With the current extreme weather conditions, we also urge residents to be aware of strong winds," he said.
