CIREBON - Cirebon City Resort Police (Polres), West Java, arrested three perpetrators of violent theft between provinces with modus operandi of stalking victims who were taking money from the bank.

"We have arrested three perpetrators, while the other is still a fugitive," said Cirebon City Police Chief Ariek Indra Sentanu as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 27.

According to him, the three suspects arrested, namely SN, AD, and R, were residents of Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra Province, while the DPO with the initials IR was a resident of Bogor, West Java.

He explained that the suspects designed their crimes carefully, in which they had their respective roles, as did IR (DPO), where the person concerned entered a bank in Cirebon City to monitor customers.

After IR saw that there were customers who took large amounts of money, then immediately informed the three suspects for the mugging action when they were in a quiet area.

"While lurking in one bank, there was a customer who took Rp. 81 million, and then the suspect IR told other suspects to follow the victim and take the victim's money," he said.

The theft occurred on January 18, 2023, at around 10.00-11.00 WIB where at that time the location was empty of community activities.

After stealing the victim's money of Rp. 81 million, Ariek continued, the four suspects fled using two motorbikes heading to East Java where in the middle of the road, precisely in Tegal Regency, Central Java, they left all their vehicles and cell phones to trick the officers.

However, said Ariek, officers managed to arrest the three suspects while in Surabaya, East Java, with the help of local police on January 21, 2023.

"When arrested, the three of them used the vehicle they bought as a result of snatching. At that time someone tried to fight back so we took firm and measured action," he said.

The suspects have committed their crimes in several other cities, even when they were in Surabaya they had planned the same thing.

As a result of their actions, the three suspects were subject to Article 365 of the Criminal Code with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of nine years.
