FPI Regret The Police Ban The Press Conference

JAKARTA - The attorney for the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Sugito Atmo Prawiro regretted the police's ban on his party to hold a press conference.

The plan, FPI Spokesperson, Munarman will hold a press conference to respond to the government's decision through a joint decree (SKB) which prohibits all FPI activities.

This press conference was originally held at the FPI headquarters, Petamburan at 16.15 WIB. However, this activity was canceled because it had been banned by the police.

Sugito said that the press conference they were planning had the right as citizens to express their opinion.

"The press conference on the disbandment of FPI is the right of the DPP FPI to respond, to convey this but this is not allowed. Even though the right to express that opinion is the right of every citizen. DPP FPI regrets this," said Sugito when he arrived in Petamburan, Wednesday. , December 30th.

When the TNI-Polri apparatus were removing all FPI attributes, Sugito admitted that he had just arrived from Polda Metro Jaya to visit the FPI leader, Rizieq Shihab.

Sugito's goal to Petamburan was to submit Rizieq's dissertation to his house. "This is his dissertation document. There are several things that need to be corrected. We come there and we want to return this to Umi," he said.

When meeting Rizieq at Polda this afternoon, Rizieq ordered Sugito to challenge the decision to disband the FPI organization at the State Administrative Court (PTUN).

"Habib Rizieq said, please prepare legal steps, sue the PTUN. If, for example, there is an official format from the government regarding the dissolution, we will file a lawsuit against the PTUN," he said.

Previously, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Heru Novianto said that his party had prohibited the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) from holding a press conference regarding the dissolution of its organization.

"Not allowed (press conference) because they no longer have the authority and there is no legal anymore. So, it is not allowed," said Heru in the Petamburan area.
