YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government has prepared different trucks to transport organic waste and residual waste in temporary depots or shelters to support the implementation of the inorganic waste zero movement.
"In depots or polling stations that have sufficient space, there will be two trucks provided. One is for organic waste and the other is for residual waste," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Environment Agency Sugeng Darmanto in Yogyakarta, Antara, Tuesday, January 24.
According to him, temporary shelters or polling stations that have differentiated garbage transport vehicles based on waste types include TPS Tompeyan and Pengok.
In order to add a fleet of garbage carriers, the Yogyakarta City Government allocated Rp25 billion in the 2022 Revised Regional Revised Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) to hold 20 garbage trucks, including match truck and dump truck.
Sugeng hopes that public awareness to manage waste from a household will continue to increase, at least in sorting organic waste and residual waste that can be transported to polling stations and inorganic waste that cannot be brought to depots or polling stations.
The Yogyakarta City Government is trying to reduce the waste transported to the Piyungan TPA by carrying out the inorganic waste zero movement and fixing waste management.
"The reduction in the volume of waste thrown into the Piyungan TPA is a target of this movement, in particular reducing inorganic waste, because 40 percent of the waste produced is inorganic waste," said Yogyakarta City Regional Secretary Aman Yuriadijaya.
Selama tahun 2022, sampah dari Kota Yogyakarta yang masuk ke TPA Piyungan rata-rata sekitar 260 ton per hari.
"We hope that through this movement there will be a decrease in the volume of waste to 50 tons to 75 tons per day," said Aman.
In addition to running the inorganic waste zero movement, the Yogyakarta City Government is trying to optimize waste management by providing Nitikan Integrated Waste Management Sites (TPST) and seeking to provide locations for waste management outside the city.
"This is done as an anticipation of the waste problem because the Piyungan TPA is no longer able to accommodate waste this year," said Aman.
