South Sulawesi Police have arrested one of three detainees from three people who were declared escaped at the Bantaeng Regency Police cell, South Sulawesi. This recidivist managed to break into the cell and fled to his brother's house in Pangkep Regency.

"The suspect with the initials NM alias Rendi was arrested by a team at his brother's house in Maleleng, Sibatua Village, Soreang District, Pangkep Regency," said Head of the Sat Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Sulsel Police Commissioner Dharma Negara to Antara, Sunday, January 22.

After the arrest of the recidivist of the suspect in this theft case, he was then taken to the South Sulawesi Regional Police for further questioning and will be handed over to the Bantaeng Police for further processing.

From the results of the interrogation of the suspect's statement, on January 14, 2023, he and two suspects for a drug case whose cell had the initials ANS and ARN fled after breaking through the rear cell security door that had been porous.

The two suspects managed to break down the door to the iron safety which had been porous with their bare hands. Then wake him up to escape together from the detention cell.

During the escape period, Dharma explained, together with his cell phone friends went to his older brother's shop around Makkatutu Hospital near Seruni Beach, Bantaeng Regency and was given Rp500 thousand in cash to visit Makassar City to meet his son, on Jalan Capoa, Ujung Tanah District.

After meeting his son, the suspect then continued his escape to Jalan Mandai and his family was told that he was looking for a police officer. Until finally he decided to go to his brother's house in Maleleng, Sibatua Village, Soreang District, Pangkep Regency.

That's where the suspect was arrested and evidence of a cell phone was found. Currently, the police are still pursuing two other suspects who fled with the suspect after they separated from Bantaeng Regency.
