After three days of blackout, PT PLN (Persero), the Main Unit of the East Nusa Tenggara Region managed to recover 100 percent of electricity damage in Sabu Raijua Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) which caught fire a few days ago.

"Currently, the electricity supply in Sabu Raijua has been restored 100 percent because all the affected substations have been successfully restarted," said General Manager of PLN UIW NTT Fintje Lumembang, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 22.

He explained that the fire of a generating machine with a lease status of 400 kilowatts (kW) in Sabu Raijua on Friday, January 20 night resulted in 88 substation units being extinguished.

During the fire, he said, PLN officers at the location immediately extinguished the fire with light and heavy fire extinguishers and available sand followed by the PLN technical team who went to the field to secure burned assets, especially those that could potentially be dangerous.

The fire, he said, resulted in the PLN network having to be extinguished to isolate the disrupted engine lanes so that they do not have an impact and at the same time secure other adjacent machines so that they can be operated again.

"PLN has taken swift steps by cutting off electricity supply to prevent a wider impact so that electricity supply for as many as 15,308 customers is cut off," he said.

He said his party had deployed an additional generating machine from Kupang and three generator machines from Sumba Island to restore electricity supply in Sabu Raijua.

With the support of the additional power plant, he said, the peak load of the night which reaches 2,490 kW can be fulfilled with the current power capacity of the generator capable of 2,790 kW.

Fintje added that currently, his party is still in the process of examining the cause of the plant's engine fire and then repairing it so that it can be operated again.

He appealed to the public or customers in Sabu Raijua if they still experience a disruption in electricity supply to contact PLN through the PLN Mobile application so that it is easily monitored digitally and immediately followed up to completion.
