JAKARTA - Russian defense companies sent more than 20 robotic vehicles for military engineers under the 2022 defense procurement plan, Russian Engineering Chief Lieutenant General Yury Stavitsky said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper of the Ministry of Defense published on Friday.

"Under the state defense procurement plan, industrial companies are sending more than 400 types of advanced hardware, more than 50,000 sets of engineering and ammunition equipment, as well as more than 20 robotic vehicles (Uran-6 mine cleaners and Uran-14 firefighters) to troop engineering companies by 2022," said Lt. Gen. Stavitsky, launching TASS January 20.

Lieutenant General Stavitsky said engineering weapons systems cover more than 600 items and equipment sets set into 75 categories.

He further explained that the multipurpose Uran-6 mine-clearing robot vehicle was used in Russia's special military operations in Ukraine, the general said.

"They are designed to minimize risks among personnel in achieving the goal of clearing anti-personnel minefields and completely clearing the field of explosives in remote mode," he explained.

"Operators can handle robots using control panels from a distance of up to 1 km," continued Lt. Gen. Stavitsky.

Lieutenant General Stavitsky said Russian army engineers used Uran-6 robotic vehicles to tame mines in Syrian cities, such as Palmyra, Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor. As well as in completing missions in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"In addition, the Skarabei and Sfera modern reconnaissance robots will arrive for the troops," the general added, explaining that engineering forces also receive advanced engineer reconnaissance and field water supply systems, fort structures, hiding facilities and fraud as well as equipment to overcome water barriers.
