ACEH - The Aceh Jaya Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBK) deployed a fire engine to deal with a fire area of one hectare in Gampong Alue Piet, Panga District, Aceh Jaya Regency at around 11.45 WIB, Friday. "After receiving information about land fires from the community, the team immediately moved to the location to extinguish the fire so that it would not spread," said the Head of BPBK Aceh Jaya, Fajri in Calan, Antara, Friday, November 20. He explained that to extinguish the fire that burned one hectare of land, his party deployed a fire engine from Pos Panga. “ Alhamdulillah, we managed to extinguish the fire at around 12.10 WIB," he said. According to him, the burned land is an empty land belonging to the local community and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the authorities. "We don't yet know the cause of the fire, whether it was burned or because of cigarette butts and this is still under police investigation," he said. He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant when clearing new land, especially now that the Aceh Jaya area is entering the dry season so that it is very flammable. "We ask the public not to burn when clearing the land and not throw cigarette butts carelessly in a flammable area," he said. Previously, the Aceh Jaya Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBK) appealed to residents in the area not to burn land carelessly because of the potential for forest and land fires to occur following the dry season. "According to BMKG information, our area will enter the dry season with hot weather conditions. We appeal to the community, especially farmers, not to burn careless land to avoid forest and land fires (Karhutla)," said the Head of BPBK Aceh Jaya, Fajri.
