The East Jakarta Metro Police continues to explore the motive related to the death of a two-year-old toddler with the initials AF (2) as a result of being abused by his grandparents at a rented house on Jalan Rawa Indah, Pekayon, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta.

"The two suspects reasoned that the child had been entrusted by his biological mother since April 2022, and had never been supported so that the grandfather and grandmother were emotional and upset that every victim was fussy," said East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Budi Sartono to reporters, Thursday, January 19.

From the results of the examination, the two perpetrators admitted that they often abused their stepchildren if they cried or exist asking for something. The incident continued to occur as long as the victim was fussy.

The victims always get acts of violence from the two perpetrators. They also admitted that they were annoyed because the victim's mother did not provide a living or did not provide money for the victim's daily needs.

"Finally (the two suspects) slammed and beat the toddler," he said.

To meet the needs of his stepdaughter's life, the two suspects were selling retail gasoline. Because AF's mother never met the child's needs. So that the two suspects are burdened.

In addition to the victim's grandparents being suspects, the East Jakarta Metro Police also named the victim's mother as a suspect for neglecting her child.

The case is still in the process of being investigated at the Women and Children Service Unit (PPA) of the East Jakarta Metro Police.
