Mother Who Disposal Of Baby In Bantul Has Become A Suspect, But The Lover Of The Perpetrator Is Still Free

The Bantul Police, Special Region of Yogyakarta, ensnared the article on child neglect of WRL, the perpetrator of throwing his own baby in Sewon District at the end of December 2022.

Head of Public Relations of the Bantul Police, Iptu I Nengah Jeffry Prana Widnyana, said the mother of the baby had been named a suspect for throwing the baby at the end of December 2022.

"This incident is a criminal act of child neglect in accordance with Article 306 Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 305 of the Criminal Code and or Article 308 of the Criminal Code," he said, Thursday, January 19, as reported by Antara.

He explained that in Article 305 of the Criminal Code, anyone who places a child whose age is not yet seven years old to be found or leave the child with the intention of releasing himself from it is punishable by imprisonment. In Article 306 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, (2) if it results in a maximum imprisonment of nine years.

Then Article 308 states that a mother is afraid that someone will know about the birth of her child, not long after giving birth, placing her child to be found or left her with the intention of breaking away from her, including child neglect.

"Parents who neglect children are legally and criminally responsible according to what has been stated in Article 305 and Article 308 of the Criminal Code. The context of the incident is to dispose of babies that are included in the article on child neglect," he said.

Regarding this case, Polres investigators have conducted crime scene investigations, made police reports, sent baby bodies to Bhayangkara Hospital, requested post-mortem, conducted investigations, examined witnesses, secured WLR, and items related to the incident.

However, he said, in the case of dumping the baby, the perpetrator's girlfriend was not named a suspect because the results of the examination were not involved in the disposal of the baby.

He said that according to the examination, both suspects, witnesses, and evidence that had been secured in this case were criminal acts of child neglect. This is reinforced by information that the suspect did it based on his own initiative.

"However, of course, we will continue to explore this case, and if evidence is found regarding the involvement of other people, including the suspect's girlfriend, of course we will process the law," he said.
