JAKARTA - As many as six people were injured as a result of a gas cylinder explosion that sparked a fire at a Padang restaurant on Jalan Kramat Raya, Tugu Utara Village, Koja, North Jakarta, Tuesday, December 29.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Koja Police, AKP Wahyudi, stated that based on the witness's account, there was an explosion from inside the restaurant which sparked a fire and burned the building.

Zulkifli (51), one of the residents near the building said he heard a gas cylinder explosion from inside the restaurant before the fire broke out violently.

"I heard that the gas cylinder exploded. Immediately the fire was big," Zulkifli said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 29.

Zulkifli said that at the time of the incident, a family of six were preparing food to be sold at the restaurant.

Previously, Head of North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-dept. Rahmat Kristantio said the fire incident was reported at 8:19 WIB.

It has deployed six units with a total of 30 personnel. The flames were successfully extinguished at 08.58 WIB. The area of the building that was burned was about 8 x 10 square meters.
