JAKARTA - Geisz Chalifah resigned from his position as Commissioner of PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol (Tbk). Geisz admitted that his resignation had been submitted to the shareholders of the BUMD owned by the DKI Provincial Government.
"I have submitted a letter of resignation from January 2nd," said Geisz when contacted, Wednesday, January 18.
Geisz said there had been no reply from his resignation. According to him, the approval of Geisz's resignation will be discussed at the Ancol general meeting of shareholders (GMS).
This Anies Baswedan loyalist explained the reason he decided to resign. After changing the position of regional head who is now held by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, Geisz feels himself, sooner or later, will be replaced.
"If later (Ancol officials) are replaced by only myself, there is a possibility that it will not be good publicly. So, in order to take the steps lightly, Mr. Acting (Heru), I resign first and don't need to replace anything else either," said Geisz.
Geisz has been an supporter of Anies Baswedan since the 2017 DKI Pilkada. After Anies won the election for the Governor of DKI, Geisz was appointed Commissioner of Ancol until now. Geisz's decision to resign from his position was also taken after Anies stepped down.
After officially leaving the position of Commissioner of Ancol, Geisz revealed that he would help Anies as a presidential candidate in the 2024 General Election, in addition to running his business.
"Obviously I will help Pak Anies. In fact, before I resigned, I had communicated with Mr. Anies. In addition, I remain in the property business, manage schools, until I am active in various social institutions," he added.
