CIANJUR - The government of Cianjur Regency, West Java, noted that around 400 heads of families in four sub-districts in Cianjur will be relocated according to BMKG instructions because they are included in the red zone of the Cugenang Fault.

Cianjur Regency Earthquake Disaster Management Spokesperson, Budhi Rahayu Toyib in Cianjur on Tuesday, said based on the results of an analysis of recommendations from the BMKG regarding areas that need to be vacated include the red zone covering an area of 2.63 kilometers across four sub-districts.

"Among them are parts of Rancagoong Village-Cilaku District, parts of Nagrak Village in Cianjur District, parts of Cibulakan, Benjot, Sarampad, Gasol, Mangunkerta, Cijedil, Nyalindung, Cibeureum Villages in Cugenang District and parts of Ciputri and Ciherang Villages in Pacet District," he said.

To determine the relocation, he said, the local government will immediately hold a joint meeting which will be attended by the central government, BMKG, BNPB, and the Director General of Housing of the PUPR Ministry.

"The results of the meeting will be made into minutes which will later be taken to the field to be discussed with the residents who will be relocated. We will convey the areas that must be relocated as a form of government concern for its residents," said Budhi.

As for the 200 relocation houses in Cilaku District, Budhi said, it was confirmed that prospective occupants could already be filled after January 21 and 150 units in Mande District could be filled in March.

However, for residents who don't want to be relocated but have alternative private or family-owned land outside the red zone, said Budhi, they were given the opportunity to build their own and the assistance is in phase four.

"Our hope is that through deliberations and very detailed explanations it can be understood by residents who will be relocated because it concerns their security and safety in the future," he said.
